im gonna transfer in this year as a junior and i am COMPLETELY lost! i enrolled in the school and everything and they gave me a schedule but idk if thats OFFICIAL. it has the subject and the teachers but it doesnt say the classroom numbers. im also afraid that im gonna get lost in the school. is there a campus map online that i can print out?? please help!!

it is not one of those big name school that give you bragging right, however it is my opinion that you can get a fine education wherever you study and that it just depends on how hard you study and are intrested in the topic you're stuyding.

Is University of Nevada - Las Vegas a good school?
I am thinking about transferring there after I graduate from community college. I will have at least a 3.0 GPA by then (trying to get it a little higher though.) Does anyone go there or know anything about it? Also is Las Vegas really a good place to live, permanently, not just travel? I live in Chicago so I need a 24 hour city with lots of culture.

Yea, UNLV is a tight school. Lots of partying.

It is what you make of it. We get a lot of retired professors from really nice schools - my old history professor was from Duke University. My English professor taught at Yale. My computer science teacher graduated from Princeton. So the professors are fairly decent - every once in a while there will be a class taught by a TA. However, if you already have an A.A. then you might skip over those since they teach the basic classes. It is a 24 hour city. Many people complain about the lack of culture here but again, it is what you make of it. It just depends on what type of culture you are really looking for. I have been living here for five years and absolutely love it. We are surrounded by "mountains" (I am from Seattle so these things are tiny in comparison but oh well), one of the largest man made lakes, Red Rock National Park, and quite a few ghost towns. It gets really hot from May to August and ranges around 105-115 F. I would follow what your major is. If you want to become a doctor, then moving to UNLV is not your best bet since you will have to move again later (We only have one medical school and it is in Reno). Good luck & let me know if you have any questions.

Check to see if your community college education will transfer, some won't. UNLV is known for the Hotel Administration degree. It does have a law school and a nursing program, a degree in social work, plus other degrees. It is a small college. This is the Mojave Desert so the summers are very hot and the winters are cold and windy, but no snow like Chicago. Jobs are the issue right now. Unemployment is almost 14% and growing. Not a good time unless you have unlimited private financial resources.

What magnet high schools in Las Vegas, Nevada would help build me up to the National Guard?
I want to join the National Guard, NOT the military. Of course, not that I have anything wrong with the military, but I just decided on the National Guard. I'm looking for a magnet high school, preferably in North Las Vegas, but anywhere is alright, that will help me up to this goal, like it offers training sort of thing. Does anyone know of some ideas? Or at least something with an "after school program?" Anyone?

You may want to do some more research. The National Guard IS a branch of the military. The high school you attend does not really matter when joining. As long as you meet the requirements-age (at least 17), height/weight, no medical issues, no law violations, high school diploma or junior or senior in good standing, you are eligible to join. You have to pass the ASVAB and physical at processing station to join. I don't know what your reasons are for not wanting to join the military, but the National Guard is the oldest branch. You may want to rethink your decision.

There are fights at all schools. EDHS is just like any other high school anywhere. Unless you are starting fights then i don't think it's something to worry about. People aren't going to fight you for just being there.

Eldog is as bad as all the other Clark County Schools--horrible. EHS is full of bullies. And, just like all the other dumb schools in Las Vegas, if you stand up for yourself against a bully, you are punished too. I had 5 bicycles stolen from the bike rack at EHS during school hours. When I brought my latest bike into the dean's office and wanted to chain it to the principal's desk, they called security. I thought they were going to have a security guard watch my bike, finally. Nope, they just wanted to punish me.

Rancho High School has been around a long time. It's consider the "Hard Knock" high school of Las Vegas. I never attended there but everyone I know who had to attend their did not like it. On an upside: They are not the only school in LV that has metal detectors as you enter the premisis, and a person I talked to 2 years ago, who taught there for a little while told me the city was working on making it a better place. I haven't been there for about 9 years, so 1st hand I can't tell you what it's like.

Okay so there's this guy 'jerry' but me and my friend dont belive he's real because my friends old friend taylor like stalks her because they arent friends anymore and she's done this 3 times before so could someone who lives in Las Vegas go to school in Henderson (Green Valley High School)

Yes, but you would have to have a decent recent to be able to get a zone variance that would allow you to go to the high school you are not zoned for. For example, I had a friend get a zone variance to go the the same school her mother worked at... reason being so they could travel together. Or I had another friend who got a zone variance because my high school offered some computer classes that the high school she was zoned for didn't offer. So the answer to you question is yes, but you can't just go to whatever school you want... there is paper work involved and you have to have a semi-decent reason for going to a school out of your zone.
